Strengthening
Climate Resilience.

Roots develops nature-based projects that sequester carbon and restore ecosystems where it's needed most.

Why We Act

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time. Rising emissions, biodiversity loss, and extreme weather threaten communities worldwide.

But nature offers solutions—forests, wetlands, and ecosystems that sequester carbon, safeguard species, and protect people.

Our mission is to combat the disastrous impacts of climate change by harnessing the power of nature to sequester carbon. Through biodiverse reforestation, we restore ecosystems, promote environmental sustainability, and create lasting benefits for biodiversity and local communities.

Global Work

Roots started developing nature-based climate solutions in flood-prone farmland in the Lower Alluvial Mississippi Valley. From degraded agricultural land to tropical ecosystems, each project is tailored to local conditions—using native species, community knowledge, and science-backed strategies to restore ecosystems and sequester carbon.

This localized, landscape-specific approach allows us to scale globally—building resilient forests that protect biodiversity, strengthen communities, and store carbon for generations.

Our Local Programs

In addition to global restoration, Roots supports local, community-driven climate solutions. From wetland restoration to native plantings and conservation education, our projects connect people to climate action where it matters most. With support from partners like The Loren, we’re expanding our work in island communities like Bermuda and Turks & Caicos—where resilience is urgent and deeply local.
