Roots has set an ambitious goal: reforest 7,000 acres of degraded land and plant 3 million trees, which will absorb over 1.2 million metric tons of carbon in the next 30 years.

This is more than a promise. Roots has already reforested 1,000 acres and planted 310,000 trees. Its first projects took place in the wetlands of Louisiana—critical landscapes for biodiversity. The results are visible: the return of iconic species such as the Louisiana black bear (recently delisted from “endangered”), alongside coyotes, alligators, wood ducks, and butterflies.
What was once farmland too vulnerable to floods is now thriving forestland, creating habitats, storing carbon, and building resilience.
